Edward M. Rubin

Edward Rubin graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Illinois in 1976 (Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Alpha Theta). He then earned his law degree from the Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law in 1979 and was admitted to practice in Illinois that same year.

Mr. Rubin began his legal career as an Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney, where he served for three years. Following this, he gained extensive defense litigation experience, first as an associate at Brodie & Reynolds (1982-1984), next as a partner at Johnson and Bell (1984-1992), and finally as a partner at Goldberg, Weisman, & Cairo (1992-2000). In 2000, Edward Rubin and fellow attorney, Emilio Machado, founded the personal injury law firm of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum.

Mr. Rubin is a member of both the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He has also spoken at seminars for the Chicago Bar Association on the subjects of medical malpractice and construction accidents.

In 2009, Mr. Rubin was selected as an Illinois Leading Lawyer; and in 2010, Mr. Rubin was identified by his peers as an Illinois Super Lawyer in the area of plaintiff's personal injury and medical malpractice.

Emilio E. Machado

Emilio Machado, born in Havana, Cuba, was admitted to the Illinois State and Federal Bars in 1985 and is a former partner with the law firm of Johnson & Bell, Ltd. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana (Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and Phi Kappa Phi) and received his J.D. degree from the Northwestern University School of Law.

In 2009, Mr. Machado was selected by his peers as an Illinois Super Lawyer and identified in Chicago magazines' Top attorneys in Illinois for his work in the area of catastrophic injuries and plaintiff's medical malpractice law.

Emilio Machado is actively involved in the legal community as a member and elected official of numerous professional associations. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Hispanic National Bar Association, as well as a former president of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois. He was elected to the Illinois State Bar Association Assembly for a three-year term (1995-1998) and is the former chair of the Corporate Outreach Subcommittee. Currently, he chairs the Medical/Legal Relations Committee for the Chicago Bar Association. Mr. Machado is also a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel.

In addition to his practice and association commitments, Mr. Machado makes time to speak at professional events on personal injury subject areas. He has been a speaker for the Illinois State Bar Association, 6th Annual Minority and Women Attorneys’ Conference, speaking on “Supreme Court Rule 220, Treating Physicians and Relevant Changes Made By House Bill 20,” (May 1995); the Chicago Bar Association on the subject of “Evidentiary Matters that Frequently Arise in Medical Negligence Cases,” (June 1994); and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel annual meeting in St. Louis, Missouri, on the subject of “Hedonic Damages” (1991). He has also written the article, “Hedonic Damages: The Tide Has Turned,” IADC 1991 Fall Seminar.

Emilio Machado was also formerly on the teaching faculty as an Instructor/Trial Advisor of the Edwin F. Mandel Clinic for the University of Chicago, Intensive Trial Practice Workshop.

Richard J. Rosenblum

Richard Rosenblum graduated from the University of Illinois in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Speech Communication. He then went on to earn his law degree with honors from the I.I.T. Chicago-Kent College of Law and was admitted to practice at the Illinois and federal court levels in 1987. Mr. Rosenblum focuses his practice on the areas of medical malpractice, product liability, professional negligence, wrongful death, and catastrophic injury.

Like his colleagues at Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum, Mr. Rosenblum is actively involved in various legal associations. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he serves on both the Medical Negligence and the Amicus Curiae committees. Mr. Rosenblum was honored with the Harte Amicus Volunteer Award by the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association in 2004 and 2011.

Mr. Rosenblum is also fluent in American Sign Language and has significant experience handling injury matters on behalf of members of the deaf community.

Charles R. Culbertson

Charles Culbertson earned his undergraduate degree at Indiana University in 1991 and his law degree from Chicago's John Marshal Law School in 1996. In practice with Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum since 2001, he was named a partner in the firm in 2009. Mr. Culbertson concentrates his practice to the areas of workers compensation, medical malpractice, and personal injury. He heads up the firm's workers' rights practice and vigorously advocates on behalf of all of his clients.

Since becoming an attorney in 1996, Mr. Culbertson has tried, arbitrated and mediated cases with excellent results for his clients in the Circuit Court of Cook County, DuPage County and the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission. Mr. Culbertson takes great pride in the relationship that he fosters and the communication he establishes with his clients. In his spare time, Mr. Culbertson likes to golf, coach baseball and spend time with his family. He is married with four children and lives in the northern suburbs. He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Workers Compensation Lawyers Association.

Stephanie B. Rubin

Stephanie B Rubin received her law degree from the John Marshall Law School in 2009. During law school, she was a member of the John Marshall Law Review and served as Staff Editor. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. She is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Ms. Rubin is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. She practices in multiple areas of civil litigation.
