Taran R. Kerst

Taran R. Kerst is an attorney at Rubin & Machado, where she represents individuals in personal injury and medical malpractice matters. Ms. Kerst earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Kansas in 2023. While at the University of Kansas, she was an active member of Kappa Alpha Theta and remains involved with the organization through its alumni chapter. 

She went on to attend the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where she graduated early with her Juris Doctor in 2025. During law school, Ms. Kerst worked as a law clerk at Rubin & Machado, gaining valuable experience in complex personal injury and medical malpractice litigation. She was also an active member of the Women's Law Caucus and the First-Generation Law Student Association at her law school. 

Ms. Kerst was admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois in 2026. She is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Chicago Bar Association. 

Before beginning her legal career, Ms. Kerst worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant throughout college, providing her with firsthand experience in patient care and a strong understanding of the medical field. That background gives her a unique insight into the medical issues at the heart of many of her cases and strengthens her ability to advocate for her clients.
