When purchasing products, we expect the design and construction of the items to be safe. Unfortunately, injuries due to defective, poorly designed, or poorly constructed products are incredibly common. A look at the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) statistics reveals a staggering number of injuries related to a wide variety of consumer goods.
When an injury occurs due to a defective or malfunctioning product (ranging from consumer goods and everyday household items to heavy machinery and industrial products), the liability for the product defect can lie with one or several parties. The manufacturer, designer, distributor, and retailer could all be potentially held liable for a product defect that results in harm.
Holding each respective party responsible for their defective products is a complex process. Major manufacturers have deep legal resources to protect their interests, and they are prepared to argue that any personal injury caused by their products is not the fault of their employer. The personal injury lawyers at Rubin & Machado have successfully handled many defective product cases. If you believe a defective product caused harm to you or a loved one, contact our law office for a free consultation.
Pharmaceutical drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, can provide relief from a wide range of conditions. As helpful as these drugs can be, they can also cause incredible harm. Sometimes, drug companies release products without understanding the dangers involved in continued use or certain drug interactions, exposing unknowing consumers to an increased risk of personal injury or death.
Dietary supplements such as herbs, minerals, vitamins, and homeopathic remedies have become popular as a way to improve both medical conditions and general health. While the claims of the companies producing these products are impressive, these supplements are not subject to the Food and Drug Administration's review and approval process. The lack of oversight of these products can place consumers in danger.
Just because a medication has been approved by the FDA does not mean it cannot cause serious personal injury. Hundreds of new drugs are approved by the FDA every year, including prescription drugs that can cause serious injuries or kill consumers. If you have experienced harm or a death in the family due to a dangerous drug or supplement, the law firm of Rubin & Machado in Chicago, IL, has the legal resources to challenge big pharmaceutical companies in pursuit of the compensation you deserve.

Workers are entitled to safe working conditions. Workers' compensation can cover the bills and expenses that result from a work injury. The advice of a seasoned attorney when filing a workers' compensation claim can ensure that you receive the appropriate benefits.
Regardless of who was at fault, if an accident occurs at the workplace, the employee is entitled to workers' compensation benefits under most circumstances. Eligibility depends on whether the employee can prove the injury occurred while working and that it was the result of performing a job-related duty or responsibility. It is important to note that the injury does not necessarily need to have occurred during normal work hours.
If you are suffering from a recent workplace injury, or you have been denied after filing a workers' compensation claim, enlisting the services of a workers' compensation attorney at the law firm of Rubin & Machado can help you collect the benefits to which you are entitled. Our attorneys can help you fight for a fair settlement so that you can cover medical bills, the cost of rehabilitation, lost wages, and any other expenses or losses resulting from your injury.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
A motor vehicle accident can change someone's life in an instant by causing significant physical harm. It can also leave you with financial and emotional burdens that cannot be easily remedied. The personal injury lawyers at the law firm of Rubin & Machado can provide effective representation to anyone who has been injured in a motor vehicle accident.
After a car or truck accident, you may think that the insurance company will take care of the damages. Considering the cost of premiums, it can be a shock to discover that an insurance company may deny your claims. The team of personal injury attorneys from our law firm is here to make sure that you get the compensation you need to cover your expenses.
The type of vehicles involved, such as bicycles, motorcycles, buses, or trucks, makes a significant difference in these cases. There are many variables to consider when approaching a personal injury case involving a vehicle accident. Hiring a qualified personal injury lawyer can have a serious impact on the amount of compensation you receive.
An accident between a pedestrian or bicycle and a car will almost certainly result in serious and costly injuries since a pedestrian or cyclist does not have the benefit of seatbelts or airbags to protect them against harm. Our firm can fight for the compensation necessary to cover the high cost of medical care, rehabilitation, a diminished capacity to work, and more.
Motorcycle accidents have a commonality to pedestrian and cyclist accidents in that the rider also lacks the protections that passenger vehicles provide. Because a motorcycle is capable of the same speeds as a car, spinal cord and brain injuries resulting from these accidents are common.
When someone is involved in a commercial truck accident, legal proceedings become far more complex. This is due to the fact that several parties can be held responsible for damages. The driver, their employer, the trucking company, and each respective insurance company can be held liable. Trucking accidents can also cause considerably more property damage and frequently result in serious injury.
Bus accidents are similar to truck accidents in that the size of the vehicle and the parties involved add considerable complexity to the way these cases are handled. Determining liability partly depends on whether the bus was a private charter or a municipal bus. While a private charter bus accident claim is similar to that of a commercial truck accident, a municipal bus (such as a commuter or school bus) brings local governments into the fray. Fortunately, our firm understands the laws relating to these cases and stands prepared to help victims collect the restitution to which they are legally entitled.
The Insurance Company Does Not Have Your Best Interests in Mind
Many types of injuries may result in having to deal with an insurance company. Auto accidents, slip-and-fall accidents, and medical malpractice injury cases all have a component involving insurance companies. These entities will often deny a claim or give a victim a lowball settlement offer. Many times, compensation for intangible losses such as pain and suffering are not factored into these offers.
To ensure you receive the full amount of compensation you need and deserve, you owe it to yourself to speak to a legal professional. The law firm of Rubin & Machado in Chicago, IL, can help you collect maximum restitution through your personal injury claim.
