When purchasing products, we expect the design and construction of the items we use on a day-to-day basis to be safe. Unfortunately, injuries due to defective, poorly designed, or poorly constructed products are incredibly common. A look at the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) injury statistics reveals a staggering number of categories, let alone specific instances of injuries.
When an injury occurs due to a defective or malfunctioning product, from consumer goods and everyday household items, to heavy machinery and industrial products, the liability for the product defect can lie with a single or number of parties. The manufacturer, designer, distributor, and retailer may all be liable for a product defect that results in harm.
Holding each respective party responsible for their defective products is a complex process. Major manufacturers have in-house legal counsel to protect their interests, and they are prepared to argue that any personal injury caused by their products are not the fault of their employer. The personal injury lawyers at Rubin & Machado in Chicago, IL, have successfully handled many defective produce cases. If you believe a defective product caused harm to you or a loved one, contact our law office for a free consultation.

Pharmaceutical drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, can provide relief to a wide range of aliments. As helpful as these drugs can be, they can also cause incredible harm. Sometimes, drug companies release products without understanding the risks that may present themselves with continued use, or certain drug interactions, exposing unknowing consumers to danger including personal injury or death.
Dietary supplements such as herbs, minerals, vitamins, and homeopathic remedies have become popular as a way to improve both medical conditions and general health. While the claims of the companies producing these products are impressive, these supplements are not subject to the FDA review and approval process. The lack of oversight for such products potentially puts consumers in danger.
Just because a medication has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not mean it cannot cause serious personal injury. Hundreds of new drugs are approved by the FDA every year, including prescription drugs that can cause serious injuries or kill consumers. If you have experienced harm or death in the family due to a dangerous drug or supplement, the law firm of Rubin & Machado, Ltd., in Chicago, IL, has the legal resources to challenge the big pharmaceutical companies.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

A car accident can cause significant physical harm. It can also leave someone with financial and emotional burdens that cannot be easily remedied. Considering the cost of premiums, it can be shock to discover that your insurance company may deny your claims. The team of personal injury attorneys from our law firm can ensure that you get the compensation you need to cover your expenses.
The number of different types of vehicles on the road such as bicycles, motorcycles, buses, and trucks can influence the type of claims that can be made when a person is injured in a motor vehicle accident. There are so many variables to consider when approaching a personal injury case involving a car accident, hiring a qualified personal injury lawyer can have a significant impact on the amount of compensation you receive.
An accident between a pedestrian or bicycle and a car will require a different strategy than an accident involving two cars, as a pedestrian or cyclist is not required by law to carry insurance. Often times these accidents are due to the negligence or inattention of the driver involved in the incident. Depending on the circumstances, these accidents can lead to significant medical expenses since a pedestrian or cyclist does not have the benefit of any kind of protection against harm.
Motorcycle accidents have a commonality to pedestrian or cyclist accidents in that the rider does not have the benefit of any added protection against injury. Because a motorcycle is capable of the same speeds as a car, the type of damages sustained, such as spinal cord and brain injuries, can significantly diminish the quality of life of the victim.
When involved in a commercial truck accident, legal proceeding become far more complex. This is due to the fact that several parties can be held responsible for damages. The driver, their employer, the trucking company, and each respective insurance company can be held liable for damages. Trucking accidents can also cause considerable more property damage and can result in serious injury.
Bus accidents are similar to truck accidents in that the size of the vehicle and the parties involved add considerable complexity to the way these cases are handled. Depending on if the bus was a private charter or a municipal bus can influence the liable parties. While a private charter bus accident claim is similar to that of a commercial truck accident, a municipal bus such as a commuter or school bus brings local or governments into the fray. More than just dealing with the driver, company, and each respective party's insurance company, bringing a claim against a government is even more complicated.
The Insurance Company Does Not Have Your Best Interests in Mind
Many types of injuries may result in having to deal with an insurance company. Auto accidents, workers' compensation, and medical malpractice injury cases all have a component involving insurance companies. The strategy of these entities is to either deny a claim or give an injury victim a lowball settlement offer. Many times, compensatory damages such as non-economic damages due to pain and suffering are not factored into these offers. This is why the choice to litigate is so important.
To ensure you receive compensation for more than just the medical care needed after an injury, a firm specialized in injury law can be invaluable. The law firm of Rubin & Machado, Ltd., in Chicago, IL, can help you cover all expenses related to your personal injury claim.
